Voyage des 4èmes E à Canterbury

Last February, we went to Canterbury on a school trip.

Before we left, we had a lot of expectations. Have they all been fulfilled?

We expected to know more about Canterbury, its history and its monuments, particularly its cathedral, actually thanks to the lecturers and the visits, we did learn a lot about the city.

We wanted to learn about Thomas Becket, in fact everything is marked by him. Not only the cathedral, but also other places such as the Eastbridge Hospitalthe place where poor pilgrims were accomodatedor the Chequer’s for the richer pilgrims not to mention museumsthe Canterbury Tales for example.

Thomas Becket’s martyr also inspired one of our teachers in Margate to write a play for our festive day.

Every morning we had courses in English and we expected to improve our English, which we did.

Moreover, we were eager to get to know each other and our teachers better. Thanks to this wonderful school trip we also discovered the British way of life.

All in all, all our expectations would have been fulfilled if Myrana had been with us!!

Big thanks to all the teachers who organised this school trip: Mme Poullaouec, Mme Decroix, Mme Mercader and enormous thanks to the driver!!
